How to have an awesome face, and hair, and life in general.

Shirt & Hat: F21 // Jeans: American Eagle // Boots: Uggs Channing (Nordstroms) // Bag: Gap

Here is my first attempt at showing off some of my new clothes.
I'm not gonna to lie, it was an unsuccessful photo session.
My photographer (ahem, the husband) did not do a very good job.
I scrounged up these two pictures for you guys though.

But you guys aren't wondering about my clothes, are you?
You are wondering how to get great hair like that, right?
And my make up?

Here is what you do...
Spend all day wandering around a school campus,
wearing a shirt that doesn't breath very well (surprisingly),
sweating profusely from every pore on your body.
Then, after you hair is all crazy and frizzy,
pass out on the couch for 3.5 hours.
Wake up, toss a braid in it to minimize the damage.
Throw on a hat.
Smudge the raccoon eyes a little.
And, Voila! Stunning flat crazy hair.
And some radiant skin.

Another great tip?
Be long overdue for an appointment with your hairdresser.
Especially if you are like me and have enough grey hairs to feed a small army.
Wait... I'm not sure that is how that line goes?
Whatev, you know what I meant.

Anyways, on to other topics, like how my day was!
Like I said earlier, I was getting all oriented on the school front.
It went well, I walked like 18 miles, probably lost about 20 pounds, both from sweating and from the actual walking.
I had lunch with my little brother-in-law, who I will be going to school with.
And best of all, I made a friend!
She even waved at me while I was at lunch!
If that doesn't make a girl feel special, I don't know what does.
Ok, she will be my friend if we have a class together.
And if I ever see her again.
She is in the same program as me so we should have at least one class together.
I stepped out of my comfort zone a little and tried actually being nice to people.
It seems like it worked out!
Maybe I should try doing that more often?
We shall see.

Alright, I gotta go be domesticated and make dinner for the husband.
He said something about being starving...
Men! Always hungry.

Peace out ladies!
{I told you, I'm gangsta now because of my new tattoo!}

What I wore {while I laid around the house feeling ill}

I don't have much to write about today. Except that I just about threw up on a customer while I was at work today. Luckily [for me, the customer, and our customer service surveys] I didn't. Now that I am home I feel like poo.
So I'm just gonna lay on the couch, sporting my favorite comfy pants and my husbands old shirt, and catch up on last nights episode of the Bachelorette!

I'm sure you are all dying to know where I got my "outfit" at, huh? Well the top is a super old AE shirt of my husbands, and the sweats are about 5 sizes too big from Target. Shop away!

[And, Yes, I did just take pictures of myself while I'm sick in my comfy clothes. I thought thats what everyone did when they're sick?]

Alright, enough of this. Bachelorette here I come!!

what I wore & friday letters

Shirt: AE {very old shirt of my husband's} / Pants, Shoes, Belt: Target / Jacket: Nordstroms / Bracelet {Necklace}: Fred Meyer / Tank Top: Old Navy / Glasses: Nine West {from my optometrist}

dear husband's shirt, I know that you are way way too big for me and maybe even a little unflattering, but I love you! I find myself wanting to wear you with everything. Maybe it is because you technically belong to my husband {but are far too small for him}, or maybe it is just because of your color. Either way, I love you and probably find excuses to wear you far too often.

dear bret {my cat}, You kill me! I'm not sure how any one thing can have so much cuteness rolled up into one. You are the cuddliest cat I have ever met, and I absolutely love it. You are such a sweetheart and are always doing the most adorable loving things.

dear carissa, I'm so blessed by our friendship and I'm so happy that we have known each other for almost 20 years!! I can't believe that. You are such a sweet and amazing person and every time I leave from our coffee sessions I always come home and tell Alex how awesome you are. Thanks for being my friend for so many years!

dear coffee, I LONG to be reunited with you. It has been far too long since I have drank a real cup of coffee and I miss it dearly. {I can't drink coffee because I am mildly hypoglycemic and even decaf makes me incredibly shaky}.

dear sun, Please don't leave us! I need you in my life!

white blouse, striped skirt

shirt: TJmaxx / Skirt: Target / Belt: Urban Outfitters /Boots: Nordstrom (Ugg Channing boots) / Earrings: Jolie Boutique (Located in Maui, no online site available) / Nylons: Fred Meyer / headband: homemade from a t-shirt

This weekend Alex and I worked on his photography skills. I'm so proud of him! I thought he did really well. It is so hard to tell someone what to do when you are the one in front of the camera. So, before we went out I showed him some examples of good portraits {via Vintage Pretty who always has adorable pictures, maybe it is just her though?}. I think he is starting to get the hang of it, he was even telling me what kind of poses to make, which never happens.

What do you guys think? Compare these pictures with: thisthis, and this. Better?

He also wasn't a fan of the shirt/skirt combination. He said the shirt {faux silk} is too dressy for this skirt {jersey knit}.

Do you agree?

blazer and skinny jeans

Shirt- Target/ Pants- Pac Sun / Jewelry- Fred Meyers / Jacket- Nordstroms / Shoes- Target

My work and my school are both about 20 minutes away from my house, and about 5-10 minutes away from each other. So yesterday, when I had two hours between my work shift and my class, I decided to skip the extra 40 minutes of driving and went straight to school.

All this to say that, when I was leaving my shift at work, I realized I had forgotten to pack any clothes to change into. I wasn't really thrilled about wearing my work branded clothes to school.

So, naturally, I just decided to buy new clothes! Seems reasonable, right?

I totally scored this shirt and shoes for $18 bucks at Target! And, I had a great excuse to buy new clothes! ;)

On a completely different note, I'm a little irritated at the quality of these pictures when I load them up to blogger. Here's the deal- I'm taking a photography class. My teacher suggested we switch to RAW files. I have nothing against them, except that I don't have a version of Photoshop that will open RAW files for my camera. And of course, I get so excited to take my pictures, I keep forgetting to switch back to JPEG.

Moral of the story?

Make sure you have the proper software before listening to your professional photographer teacher.

Alex should be back tomorrow with the second part of our love story!

Short post today! My husband and I are on vacation for the weekend with some of our friends, so I've had this post ready to go just for this occasion. I'm excited to tell you guys all about it on Monday!

Fashion blogger?

I'm not sure I am "fashion blogger" material, but I'm going to take a stab at it.
Purely for the sake of trying new things.
This is my second attempt at this kind of post (you can see the first here).
I honestly am the least photogenic person I have ever met, so if all else fails Alex and I will have fun laughing at some of my worst pictures ever taken.
But here are some that turned out ok.

Shirt: Forever 21
Skirt: (used to be a dress) Macy's
Sweater: Ross Dress for Less
Boots: UGGs Channing, Nordstroms
Boot socks: sleeves from an old sweater.
Earrings: Jolie Boutique (Located in Maui, and for the life of me
I can not find a website for this company.)
Headband: DIY t-shirt headband, tutorial found here
