Oh right, I still have a blog

Not sure if you can tell but things have been a bit hectic this term. But I've been putting my little planner to good use (if you haven't seen the planner I made yet, I have it up on Level & Lace now). Just wanted you guys to know that I am still around. Just trying to go for a more simplified blog life.
minimal maintenance = minimal stress

Literally all I am doing these days is homework and studying and going to class. So I have nothing exciting to share (not that life was really all that exciting before).
Maybe I'll throw in a trip to Vegas this summer. ;)

Anyone want to meet us there?

DIY Planner

You may have seen back on my other blog (Knowing Tanya) that I made a planner for myself this year. This is something that I have been wanting to do for some time and I was excited to actually finish this project.  Cost me less than $10 to make and has all of the things that I desire in a planner. Plus, it's cute!

Ever think of making your own?

Nutrition

You guys might not know this about me, but I'm a nutrition major. And I'm kind of obsessed with all things nutrition related. When I got my books for this term Alex says I was more excited about my nutrition books than about my Christmas presents. That's a sign that I'm trying to go into the right field, right?

I've been wanting to share some of the stuff I've learned for awhile, but I'm hesitant. I am not an expert on this subject matter, just a student. So you are welcome to take all the advice I give with a grain of salt (no pun intended).

Fat is not your enemy.
We actually need about 20-35% of fat in our diet. There are loads of fat soluble vitamins that your body cannot absorb in a "low fat/no fat" diet. Where the fat comes from is the important part.

Getting vitamins and nutrients from your food is way better than taking a supplement.
If you eat a variety of fruits and vegetables you are better off than if you are taking a vitamin supplement. Although if you can't or aren't getting it from your diet a supplement is better than nothing.

Sleeping and getting enough water are crucial to being healthy and weight control.
I probably don't need to explain further. We've all heard it before, I just wanted to reiterate that it is very true.

It is important to try to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity in every day.
That doesn't mean you have to go to the gym. It doesn't mean you have to go for a run, or do a work out video. It can be 30 minutes of cleaning, walking, washing the car, mowing the lawn. Just some sort of moderate physical activity for 30 minutes a day will help get you on a good path.

I'm not someone who is out to make everyone "skinny". I am most interested in educating people on being healthy, no matter what size you are. That way we can live longer happier lives. Not just skinnier ones.
